“All the secrets of the world are contained in books. Read at your own risk.”
― Lemony Snicket, Horseradish

“For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet or excite you. Books help us understand who we are and how we are to behave. They show us what community and friendship mean; they show us how to live and die.”
― Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life

“We don't set out to save the world; we set out to wonder how other people are doing and to reflect on how our actions affect other people's hearts.”
― Pema Chödrön, When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice For Difficult Times

“Reading is the sole means by which we slip, involuntarily, often helplessly, into another's skin, another's voice, another's soul.”
― Joyce Carol Oates

“Writing and reading decrease our sense of isolation. They deepen and widen and expand our sense of life: they feed the soul. When writers make us shake our heads with the exactness of their prose and their truths, and even make us laugh about ourselves or life, our buoyancy is restored. We are given a shot at dancing with, or at least clapping along with, the absurdity of life, instead of being squashed by it over and over again. It's like singing on a boat during a terrible storm at sea. You can't stop the raging storm, but singing can change the hearts and spirits of the people who are together on that ship.”
― Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life

“Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them.”
― Lemony Snicket, Horseradish

“A word after a word after a word is power.”
― Margaret Atwood

Actually, I love all these quotes that you have posted above! I couldn't believe that these quotes would affect me big time, especially now that I am trying to be back on the art of writing. It inspires me to go back to where I have started and I realized that writing is still my passion and I want to go back. Perhaps, it's not yet too late for me to go back, isn't it? The quote from Margaret Atwood might be short, but it's saying a lot of message; the powerful one.
