Discover Your Inner Heroine
Welcome to Outdoor Book Club! We bring together women who love books & the outdoors to cultivate a spirit of adventure & discovery, so that we can discover our inner heroines. Our highest values include:
Outdoor Book Club members believe that we are all in this world together: young, old, married, divorced, gay, straight, professionals, stay-at-home moms, introverted, extroverted, experienced woodswomen and “girly girls." Whether you're a newbie glamper or an experienced ultramarathoner, a trashy romance fiend or a classic literature aficionado, you are all welcome here!
- Community – We strongly believe that we are all in this together. Shared joys, risks, sorrows and changes bind a community together.
- Discovery – We believe that books and nature are the two most direct routes to refresh the human spirit.
- Power – We look to promote strength, balance, resilience and resolve within our members’ hearts & minds.
- Environmental harmony – We will cultivate an appreciation for nature, with the spirit of reflection, wonder and depth at the heart of everything we do.
- Active lifestyle – We aim to live life well. Adventure, courage and bravery are all a part of active living.

Why you should join us
We're more than just a group of awesome, empowered women — we're a movement. We believe that when women get together over books and shared adventures, powerful bonds are forged — quickly. We connect deeply and share our passions, challenges and ups and downs. The only way any of us can be successful is with the support of others.

Why the world needs OBC
For today’s modern women, it’s a constant challenge to feel supported and connected to an authentic network of like-minded women. Every day, many of us deal with anxiety and depression, and often end up self-medicating with excessive social media, food, alcohol & other unhealthy behaviors in order to manage our feelings of loneliness and disconnection. This is often especially true for those of us who actively seek out adventure in our lives.
The main problem adventurous women (in all our glorious forms!) face is finding others like us. This often creates even more feelings of disconnection. depression and anxiety. Usually our best option to deal with this lack of connection is to simply go within ourselves and try to deal with the pain — or if we're lucky, we can find a good book to help us escape. Others may try to find support via our spouses, children or even work, but these options aren't built to support our very real need for true friendships and shared experiences. And as schedules get busier and to-do lists grow longer, the problem only worsens.
There's a better way for brave women to connect and build powerful friendships: through Outdoor Book Club. By bringing together women from all walks of life who share a set of common passions (books & the outdoors), we can powerfully increase women's self-esteem, improve their health and well being, and build stronger communities.

My story

Tallyho! I'm Jill Hinton Wolfe, Army veteran, mom, avid reader and Chief Heroine of the Outdoor Book Club. I'm passionate about three things: the outdoors, great books and helping women of all walks of life discover their inner heroine.
I started Outdoor Book Club in 2013 after going through a divorce & job change. I wanted to create a community of women who enjoy challenging themselves (whatever that looks like) and discovering great new books.
I'd like to think I bring a unique perspective to the topic of books and the outdoors. I’m certainly not the most well-read woman in the world, and neither am I the most outdoorsy. But I love both, and I want to share that love with other women. We need it so badly! I want to give women the information, tools and connection/support they need in order to experience the outdoors more fully.

Required Reading
I'm a big believer in adventure — and not just the kind you see in the movies, or read in the pages of a thriller. I want you to experience a little adventure in your everyday life, and one place to start is with some of my favorite posts. Here are a few suggestions:
